DIG PINK

Let's Dig in and Do it!
Spike out Cancer!
Serve up a Cure!

The day has come and gone. The games have come and gone. Our volleyball teams, our school and our community was able to raise some much needed cash to make sure all women are aware of the seriousness of breast cancer and breast cancer awareness. We were able to show our love and support to breast cancer survivors. We were able to show our love and support to all those touched by this disease, and we were also able to show our love for those who have lost loved ones. I would like to thank all of those who helped with this event and I pray that we have made a small dent in the battle against this disease. It has become an event hosted by colleges and high schools around the country. The goal this year in the nation is $1 million.

I am especially affected by the family of my friend, Nancy. They were able to support us with their finances as well as their presence tonight. It had to be very difficult for them to stand up and listen to the applause in honor of this special lady. She was my teacher, my helper, my supporter and my friend and I miss her greatly. Hopefully, through this event, and other events like this around the nation, we can make a difference in the lives of women and their families so that no one has to suffer the kind of fear, illness, loss and sorrow that these people have had to endure. Our community raised over $3,000 through t-shirt sales, donations and a huge bake sale.

Pink was definitely the theme for this event, including the bake sale. Thanks to the families that donated food for the sale, and to the Family and Consumer Science department and classes who made the bake sale such a success! "Fightin' together for a good cause". There was not ONE MORSEL left unpurchased!!!

I would like to be able to say that our varsity ended the night victorious in the match. That was not to be, but still, we were
"Fightin' together for a good cause"!
