I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough?
To make a mark on things,

I want to leave an offering.
A child of mercy and grace who blessed Your name unapologetically
to leave that kind of legacy.

I'd like to hang my hat on more than the temporary trappings of this world, and in the end, I would like to leave this kind of legacy. Did I give God the glory in all things? Did I love enough? Did I offer anything to this world?

I had the wonderful opportunity to "have coffee" with Jennifer on Sunday morning. Actually, I was sitting in my van, cup of coffee in hand, digging for something, and sat and talked on the phone with her for a while. We are sharing similar stories and props for our bible schools this summer. Isn't that wonderful, Jennifer and I "met", first through our blogs. I expressed that I don't want to make this blog be too much of a brag page, but I am so proud of my kids and grandkids, and I love my brothers and sisters so much. I enjoy what I do so much, it just seems natural to talk about what I do, so I am sorry if it seems like bragging. Jennifer and I decided it is just like what one might talk about over coffee in the days when life was a bit slower and we were coffeeing folks. I am simply "talking" with whoever chooses to "listen". "What have you been up to? Well, I have been painting murals, and my school, and my kids......and so on......" Nice to have coffee with you, Jennifer, and thank you for listening.

When I began this blog a year ago, in fact, I remember wonderful this medium is. I have been known to be a talker, and now, with the convenience of the keyboard, I can talk and talk and talk ,and those who don't wish to listen, can just close me up and that is the end of it. I know some of you don't post comments and that is ok, but I have been told my many that they do read my blog and enjoy it. I enjoy "talking", so.....come on back and I will bend your ear.

All that said, isn't "Legacy " by Nichole Nordeman just wonderful? I am so touched by songs. Music is such a gift. I hope I have shared some of my favorites with you? Now, what do I wish to leave to my children and grandchildren, and to all my friends and blog followers?
I want to leave a legacy.
I am choosing joy!
How will YOU remember me?

I haven't ever met you, but I agree with you.

What simple statement you make with the name of your blog called "Choose Joy". It gives me hope, it gives me the idea that I could quite possibly chose to be joyful instead of mad or sad.

It makes me feel like I might actually have a say in my happiness. I could try choosing to be joyful.

Yes. I've never met you, but that's what I'd say.

I. Am. In. Awe.

After our conversation on Sunday, the song that has been running through my head has been "Legacy" by Nicole Nordeman. And now, this is how you start your post -- with the same song. Amazing!

I don't think we mentioned "Legacy" in our conversation, did we? I can't recall.

Anyway, it's just one of those extremely cool "God things" -- proof positive that God is in the mix, doing His thing through blogs.

Love ya, girl. I'll be dropping in for "coffee" here at Choose Joy for a good, long while. And I'd like to do that in "real-life" one day, too.

I like listening to you "talk" too, Joy. You're a great lady and a talented artist.

I would remember you as a very gifted and talented painter, with a soft heart and a beautiful soul.
An encourager. A beautiful daughter who loves her momma and a beautiful momma who loves her children. One who pointed others toward the Lord with her courageous determination to choose joy. Two simple words that say so much. And one who used her gifts to bring glory to Him.

Thanks for sharing your heart...

Love to you,
